Hi, I'm Andrea. I'm based in Wigan, near Manchester.
As a child I was taught to knit by my aunt while we lived over in Hungary and it has been my hobby ever since.
The dream of starting Purl Town became a reality in Sprint 2020 soon after the world came to a standstill due to covid.
My ultimate dream is to obtain a UPS van and convert it to a mobile wool shop so that I can spread the joy of knitting and crochet by going out to the community Check out my idea...
My favourite yarns to knit with are cottons, merino, alpaca, bamboo, wool etc. I guess you could say I'm a natural fibre advocate.
I'm looking to be more mindful of the planet and the current panic about microplastics getting into our foods has made me reflect more about our health and the welfare of those around us. This is why you will gradually see me switch my yarn stock from acrylics to more natural fibres such as wool, cotton, bamboo, yak, merino, alpaca and more.

You'll find me out and about at various crafting meetups in the locality. My personal one is at Fresh Choice Cafe in Wigan. I will post here of the latest meetups in the area. I try to bring a selection of yarns and patterns to each of them so everyone can have a browse.
